Five stars

Five stars is not a reason to write five sentences

The best reply to a top rating is usually the shortest one that proves a person read it. Three drafts from an auto shop, and what each one picks up on.

Why brevity is the skill here

A five star review is the one an owner is most likely to over answer. There is nothing to fix, so the reply fills with adjectives, and twelve of those in a row is what makes a profile look automated.

Read a column of replies to top ratings on almost any profile and you will find the same three words at the top of each one. That pattern is legible to a customer, and once they have spotted it every reply on the page is discounted, including the careful ones under the complaints. Keeping a five star reply to two specific sentences is not laziness. It is what keeps the rest of your replies believable.

Three five star reviews from one workshop

One long story about a Friday afternoon breakdown, one sentence from a fifteen year customer, and one from somebody who walked in expecting to be ripped off. Three quite different jobs for the same rating, and read the first four words of each before you read anything else: two of the three drafts start on the same two, which is the exact habit the checklist below tells you to break. The engine varies what it reaches for inside the reply and it does not reliably vary how it begins, so the opening is the line to change yourself.

  • 5 out of 5Grateful, with a story
My alternator went on a Friday afternoon and I had to be three hundred miles away on Saturday morning. They took the car in at four, called me at six with a price, and had it done by eight. No upsell, no drama, and the price was what they said it would be.

    Drafted reply

Thank you, Denise. A Friday alternator failure with a 300-mile drive the next morning is exactly the kind of pressure we want to take off our customers, so hearing the four-to-eight turnaround worked out means a lot. Straight quotes and no upsell aren't luck, they're the standard. Safe travels, and thanks for trusting us.

  • 5 out of 5Loyal customer, one sentence
Fifteen years and they have never once talked me into something I did not need.
    Ray, on Google

    Drafted reply

Ray, fifteen years means the world to us. Straight answers and only the work you actually need, that's the promise we intend to keep. Thank you for trusting us all this time.

  • 5 out of 5First visit, pleasantly surprised
I went in expecting the usual runaround and got the opposite. They showed me the worn part, explained why it mattered, and told me the other thing I asked about could easily wait six months. Honest shops are rare and this is one of them.

    Drafted reply

Thank you, Ayesha. Showing you the worn part and being upfront that the other repair could wait is just how we want every visit to go. It means a lot that you took the time to share this, and we'll be here whenever you're ready to tackle that second item down the road.

Every reply marked as drafted below is verbatim output of the same engine a customer's account uses, produced by claude-opus-4-7 and frozen on the date its own card carries, the registry itself last rewritten on 2026-09-13. The wording is the engine's throughout, and the only thing the freeze script changes is the shape of the placeholder, which is why a few of them read [contact] where a contact route belongs: the engine was given a business and a review and no way to reach anybody, so it left the slot for you. Filling that in, and deciding whether you agree with the rest, is the part you do before you post it.

AI Personalities

One review, two voices

Every draft is written in a voice, and the voice is yours to pick. Below is the first review on this page answered twice, in two of the AI Personalities that come with every plan, with nothing changed between them but the voice.

Denise H., 5 out of 5 on Google
  • Heartfelt

Radiates genuine gratitude and care. References specific review details to show the reviewer was truly heard. Makes customers feel like their visit meant something special.

Denise, thank you for trusting us with your car when the timing could not have been tighter. Getting you back on the road in time for a 300-mile Saturday drive is exactly the kind of call we want to answer well, and it means a lot that the quote and the final price lined up the way they should. Safe travels, and we're here whenever you need us.

Drafted with claude-opus-4-7 on 2026-09-12, in this voice because it was asked for.

  • Friendly

Warm, conversational, and genuine. Uses first names and shows real personality. Perfect for restaurants, cafes, salons, and retail.

Denise, so glad we could get you back on the road in time for your Saturday drive. A Friday afternoon alternator is nobody's idea of fun, and we know how much is riding on a straight answer and a fair price when the clock is ticking. Thanks for trusting us, and safe travels out there.

Set a voice for the account and every draft arrives in it, or leave it on Auto and each review gets the one its own analysis calls for. Either way the draft waits for you: GetSetReply writes it, you post it.

What happens to a review before you see a draft

  • The review is read before anything is written

Every review is analyzed first: the rating, the sentiment, the themes a reader would pick out, and a closed set of risk flags (possible legal issue, safety concern, harassment or abusive language, worth checking this reviewer). The draft is written from that reading, and a review nothing usable could be read from does not get drafted at all.

  • The voice is a setting, not a house style

Pick an AI Personality for the account or let Auto choose one per review from what the analysis found. Change it on any draft and it is rewritten in the new voice, from the same reading.

  • One inbox instead of a login for each

Google, Yelp, TripAdvisor, DoorDash, Trustpilot, Etsy and Facebook arrive in one list, already analyzed and already drafted. GetSetReply writes the draft and you post it, so nothing reaches a review page until you send it.

You can try the drafting half on a review of your own without an account. Paste it into the free review response generator and read what comes back.

Two sentences, and what goes in them

Sentence one earns the trust. Sentence two spends it on something concrete.

Do

  • Pick the single detail in the review that only that customer could have written.
  • Name the outcome they cared about rather than the service you provided.
  • Keep the invitation specific: the next service, the seasonal thing, the person who looked after them.
  • Vary the opening line across the column. The first four words are what a scanner sees.

Do not

  • Do not lead with the phrase every other reply on your profile leads with.
  • Do not turn a thank you into a sales paragraph about your other services.
  • Do not use a customer's five star review as a place to answer a different customer's complaint.
  • Do not ask for a referral in the reply. Ask in person, where it belongs.

Questions about five star replies

Do five star reviews need a reply at all?

They benefit from one, and the benefit is mostly for other readers. A short specific answer signals that the profile is maintained by a person, which changes how the negative reviews further down are read.

How do I keep sixteen of them from sounding identical?

Change the first four words every time and anchor each reply to a different detail. If you cannot find a detail, the reply should get shorter rather than more general.

Is it fine to reply weeks later?

Yes. A late reply to praise costs nothing. The only replies with a real clock on them are the ones answering a complaint somebody is still living with.

Can I ask a happy customer to review us again?

Not for the visit they have already written about. A review covers one experience, and a second one covering the same evening is the shape platforms treat as duplication. A genuinely new visit is different: Tripadvisor's guidelines below accept a further review from a repeat customer after a month at a restaurant and after three months at a hotel, attraction or tour. So the honest version is to ask after they come back, and never to ask anyone to top up or replace the review already on your profile.

Sixteen thank yous, none of them the same
