Square turns a finished sale into a review somewhere public
Nobody leaves you a public Square review, and that is not what this connection is for. It gives you the sale, the shop it happened at and the customer behind it, which is everything you need to ask for a review somewhere the public can read one.

What a Square connection powers
Three things live today, and then the same pipeline the rest of these pages describe.
- Your sales, attributed to the right shopSquare orders flow into your sales dashboard, and each Square store is mapped to one of your locations, so takings, requests and reviews all count against the shop they came from. A close address match links itself; a partial one is only ever offered for you to confirm, because a wrong link poisons the numbers for every store.
- Your customer directory, as contact listsSquare profiles arrive as contacts, and your Square customer groups are mirrored as contact lists that converge rather than accumulate: somebody taken out of a group in Square comes off the mirrored list too, instead of the list only ever growing.
- A finished sale as the reason to askA completed sale is the moment somebody is most likely to say something kind about you somewhere the public can read it. On Professional and Enterprise the review request goes out off that sale, by the channel you picked when you set the request up, and the review that follows is credited back to the Square store it started at.
- Then we analyze it, draft it, and you post itThe review a Square customer leaves on Google, Yelp or anywhere else on this list arrives in your GetSetReply inbox already read, with a reply written in your voice underneath it, and you post that reply on the platform it came from. That part is the same here as on every other page in this section.
Review requests by email and SMS are included on Professional and Enterprise. Your review funnel links, QR codes and contacts are on every plan.
What Square lets you send, and what it does not
There is no public review on Square for us to draft against. Square's own Feedback tool collects private messages from a receipt, we do not read it, and nothing here is ever written against one. The value of the connection is the sale and the customer behind it.
Square's developer terms draw a hard line around the phone numbers in a Square directory: no marketing calls and no marketing text messages to a number acquired through Square. The only thing that goes out off a Square sale here is a request for a review, and on Professional and Enterprise it goes to the contact details that customer left with you, by the channel you choose when you set the request up.
Nobody is texted without consent recorded against their contact, and somebody who replies STOP is opted out for good. That is enforced in the database rather than in a preference a later import could quietly tick back on.
Coming soon
Coming soon on the Square connection
Two things being built on top of the same connection. Neither is switched on yet, and neither is described here as though it were.
- Coupons your counter can redeem, counted against Square sales
- A member of staff presses Redeem at the counter, and the Square order that follows for the same customer, with the same amount taken off it, is matched back to that redemption. The result is a coupon that was counted rather than estimated.
- A menu cost model built on your Square orders
- Ingredients are bought in packs and costed per unit, recipes turn them into a batch with a yield, menu items are built out of both, and your Square orders are joined to those menu items by name. What comes out is a blended food cost and a ranking of what each item on the menu really contributed.
Where the reviews come from once Square is connected
Square supplies the moment and the contact. These are the places a customer can leave you a rating anybody can read, with more integrations coming.

Square questions
Square is the only point of sale we connect, and it behaves differently from everything else here.
Does Square give me reviews?
No. Square publishes nothing a stranger can read, and its own Feedback tool is private to you and not something we read. What Square gives you is the sale, the store it happened at and the customer, which is what makes an ask worth sending.
Will you text my Square customers?
Only where that customer gave your shop the number themselves, and only by the channel you pick when you set the request up. Square's developer terms prohibit marketing calls and marketing text messages to a number acquired through Square, and a request for a review off a completed sale is the only thing sent here, on Professional and Enterprise. Nobody is contacted without consent recorded against their contact, and anybody who replies STOP is out for good.
How does Square know which of my shops a sale belongs to?
Each Square store is mapped to one of your locations. A close address match links itself, and a partial one is offered for you to confirm rather than applied quietly, because an unpicked wrong link poisons the numbers for every store.
What happens to my Square customer groups?
They are mirrored as contact lists, and they converge rather than accumulate: somebody taken out of a group in Square comes off the mirrored list on the next pass, so the list stays the group rather than a record of everyone who was ever in it.
